at Cumbernauld Airport,
base of Microlight Scotland

Cumbernauld Airport
CUMBERNAULD Airport used to be the base for Microlight Scotland's flight training operations before our move to Strathaven Airfield - although we still visit it on cross-country flights.

The airfield is a busy general aviation facility, but there are no commercial passenger flights operating out of it.

There are around 50 aircraft based at Cumbernauld. Cormack Aircraft Services specialises in working on Islander and Trilander aircraft, and there are always a few of these on the field at any one time.

Microlight flying lessons provided by Microlight Scotland there are now flown from Strathaven Airfield, near East Kilbride and Hamilton. Helicopter lessons and trial flights at Cumbernauld are by Scotia Helicopters and light aircraft training by Cumbernauld Flying School and Leading Edge.

There are vending machines in the pilots' lounge and a cafe in the flying school is open seven days (except bank holidays) from 10am until 4pm.

For landing information, check the air pilot, flight guides and call the tower on 01236 722 822 for PPR. Prior Permission is Required for visiting aircraft. Non-radio traffic operates at Cumbernauld.
